Al-Azhar Mosque

Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, Egypt, is a landmark of Egyptian and Middle Eastern culture and religion. The monuments of Historic Cairo are under threat from numerous stressors, including a rising water table and intermittent earthquakes, so it was not surprising that Al-Azhar, one of the oldest mosques and universities in the Middle East, needed shoring.
